Q: What is the Mesa Angels Foundation?
A: The mission is to provide financial assistance in the form of grants and loans to those in critical financial need due to extraordinary circumstances such as medical emergency, natural disasters or other unforeseen life-changing event. The Mesa Angels Foundation also supports charitable organizations through donations in the communities that Mesa Airlines serves as American Eagle and United Express.

Q: How much of my donation goes directly to the people and organizations the Foundation helps?
A: 100% of your donation will go to help the people and organizations the Mesa Angels Foundation provides assistance to.

Q: Who is eligible to apply for help from the foundation?
A: Grants and loans are available from the foundation for individuals selected by the Foundation Management Committee as meeting the selected criteria set forth in the application.

Also eligible are charitable organizations engaged in activities consistent with the Mesa Angels Foundation's charitable goals and with the charitable purposes of Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation asks that you send us a one-page statement with the following information on the project to be funded: the purpose of the project for which funds are being requested; problems and issues the proposed project will address; information about the organization conducting the project; and estimated overall budget for the project.

Q: What needs are not funded?
A: The Mesa Angels Foundation does not fund credit card expenses, utility bills, school tuition/expenses and minor car/house repairs, absent exceptional circumstances such as disaster relief or other catastrophic events.

With charitable organizations, the foundation does not fund the following: religious organizations or endeavors; political, legislative, lobbying, sports or fraternal organizations; building funds/capital projects; conferences or symposia; sponsorship of events, tables, exhibitions or performances.

Q: How do I apply for a grant or loan?
A: You can submit an initial request and the Foundation Management Committee will provide you with detailed application to complete.

Q: What types of situations qualify for a grant or loan?
A: Medical emergencies, natural disasters, catastrophic illness or other unforeseen circumstances that would cause a major financial hardship.

Q: How do I prove that all of my other resources have been exhausted?
A: You will need to provide documentation that includes, but is not limited to, the following: pay stubs, insurance coverage, copies of bills, other sources of income and letters from individual that can testify to need.

Q: How does the Foundation Committee decide who can get a grant or loan?
A: The decision is based on critical financial need due to issues such as medical emergency, natural disasters or other unforeseen life-changing events. For charitable organizations, it will be based on the quality and effectiveness of the project that needs to be funded, as well as the degree to which donations will be applied for the stated charitable purpose. The Foundation Committee will have full discretion in granting and denying applicants for grants or loans and can require proof that the Foundation's funds are applied in a manner consistent with an individual or organization's application.

Q: What is the maximum amount of grants or loans?
A: The amounts will be determined by the Foundation Committee. 

Q: Who can make donations to the Foundation?
A: Contributions to the Foundation are generally received from employees from identified corporations via payroll deductions. Forms for payroll deductions are located at http://www.mesa-angels.com/payroll.asp. Others wishing to make a donation can send a check payable to Mesa Angels Foundation at 410 N. 44th Street, Suite 700, Phoenix, AZ 85008, ATTN: Mesa Angels Foundation.

Q: Is my donation tax deductible?
A: Mesa Angel’s Foundation is designated as a tax exempt Federal organization according to IRS regulation 501(c)(3). All monetary contributions made to the Foundation may be deductible from your taxes. Please consult a tax professional for additional details.
